The Life Cycle of a Flea
- The adult flea lives on your cat (and the other pets in your home).
- The females lay eggs: these eggs fall off of your cat throughout your home.
- The eggs hatch into tiny larvae – especially during warm, humid weather.
- The larvae soon become pupae by spinning a sticky cocoon. This stage can remain dormant but alive in your home for up to 6 months.
The flea products that we carry are the safest and most effective available in Canada.

TREATING YOUR CAT
ADVANTAGE
A vial of liquid applied once a month to your cat’s skin. Kills all fleas on contact within a few hours. Extremely effective and safe.
ADVANTAGE MULTI
A vial of liquid applied once a month to your cat’s skin. Kills all fleas on contact within a few hours. It is also a broad-spectrum dewormer, reliable ear mite treatment and effective prevention of heartworm disease.
REVOLUTION
A vial of liquid applied once a month to your cat’s skin. Effective treatment and control of fleas, ear mites, roundworm and hookworm and prevents heartworm disease.
OVICOLLAR
Acts as birth control for fleas, but does not kill adult fleas. Lasts for 12 months and has a safety breakaway lock.
FLEA COMB
An old-fashioned chemical-free way to remove adult fleas from your cat. Also helps you to know when there are (or aren’t) adult fleas present on your cat.
SHAMPOO & FLEA POWDER
We do not recommend either of these treatments for your cat. We have found that they are neither easy to use, safe, nor effective.
PLEASE NOTE:
We recommend using flea control/prevention products that are purchased from Veterinary clinics only. These products have been tested and are proven to be safe and effective for your cat.
TREATING YOUR HOME
VACUUM
Vacuum your entire house to remove eggs and larvae. Remember to vacuum the attic, basement, cupboards, closets, under beds, behind furniture, and in the sofa. Pay attention to “hot spots” in your home where your cat loves to snooze, but you do not routinely vacuum (under beds, in drawers, on shelves, on windowsills, etc.). Throw out the vacuum bag right away, or clean out the canister.
SIPHOTROL
Usually if all the animals in the house are treated properly, there is no need to treat the premise, but if there is a heavy burden of fleas then a premise spray may be recommended.
PREVENTING FLEAS
The easiest way to deal with fleas is to prevent them!
